Head of Finance / VP Finance

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Head of Finance / VP Finance to lead the finance function for the group and work closely with the MD/CEO and leadership team.

The role requires a hands-on finance leader who can independently drive finance operations, strengthen governance and controls, improve treasury and banking management, and support long-term financial strategy. The individual will play a critical role in building a more autonomous, process-driven finance organization while supporting business growth and financial stability.

This role is ideal for someone who combines strong controllership and operational finance capability with the maturity to partner promoters, bankers, auditors, and senior stakeholders in a listed manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Finance Leadership & Controllership

• Lead the overall finance, accounts, costing, taxation, audit, compliance, MIS, and reporting functions across the organization.
• Ensure accurate and timely closure of books and statutory reporting.
• Strengthen financial discipline, internal controls, governance frameworks, and reporting accuracy.
• Drive process improvements and institutionalize finance systems and operating rhythms.

Treasury, Banking & Working Capital Management

• Manage treasury operations, banking relationships, liquidity planning, and working capital optimization.
• Lead interactions with banks, financial institutions, auditors, and external stakeholders.
• Support debt management, refinancing discussions, and capital structuring initiatives.
• Monitor and manage treasury exposure areas including forex and commodity-linked financial risks.

Balance Sheet & Financial Improvement Initiatives

• Drive balance sheet restructuring and clean-up initiatives.
• Identify opportunities to improve profitability, cash flow visibility, and financial efficiency.
• Strengthen cost controls, financial analysis, and operational finance visibility across the business.

Governance & Strategic Finance

• Ensure adherence to listed-company governance and compliance standards.
• Lead board-level financial reporting and management reviews.
• Partner with leadership on strategic planning, business performance, risk management, and financial decision-making.
• Support long-term capital markets readiness and investor-facing finance initiatives.

Team Leadership

• Lead and mentor the existing finance organization.
• Build credibility and alignment within the finance team and broader business.
• Foster a culture of accountability, ownership, and operational excellence.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Chartered Accountant (CA) mandatory; MBA Finance from a reputed institution is an added advantage.
• 15–25 years of progressive finance leadership experience.
• Strong experience in listed manufacturing, industrial, metals, commodities, or process-driven businesses.
• Proven expertise in:
• finance controllership,
• treasury management,
• banking relationships,
• balance sheet restructuring,
• compliance and governance,
• and board-level financial reporting.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing finance, costing, working capital, and operational finance.
• Experience working in promoter-led or founder-driven organizations preferred.
• Prior involvement in turnaround, restructuring, or finance transformation situations is highly desirable.
• Strong business judgment, leadership maturity, and ability to operate independently in a high-ownership environment.
