Senior Backend Engineer (SDE 4)

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to own and build a new product vertical from the ground up. This role is focused on backend architecture, system design, and scaling systems that handle real user or transaction volume.

You will work closely with the a small, high-ownership engineering team to design systems, define technical direction, and build scalable backend services in a fast-moving, low-process environment.

### Required Skills & Experience

* 8-11 years of experience in backend engineering roles, with ownership of production systems.
* Strong backend fundamentals with hands-on experience in Node.js (preferred) or Go / Python / Java
* Excellent proficiency in Data Structures & Algorithms
* Strong experience in both Low-Level Design and High-Level System Design
* Proven experience building or scaling backend systems with significant user or transaction volume
* Experience owning architecture for a product vertical or major backend domain (not just feature-level contributions)
* Comfort working in small, fast-moving teams with high ownership and minimal structure

### Key Responsibilities

* Own the backend architecture and technical direction for a new product vertical
* Design, develop, and scale backend services with a focus on reliability, performance, and maintainability
* Build clean, well-structured APIs and define system contracts across services
* Make key architectural decisions around scalability, latency, and fault tolerance
* Work with databases, caching, and asynchronous systems to build efficient data flows
* Collaborate closely with product and frontend teams to translate requirements into scalable backend systems
* Drive end-to-end ownership - from problem definition to production deployment and scaling
* Contribute to code reviews, debugging, and improving overall system health
