R&D Project Head

Position Overview

The R&D Project Head will be responsible for leading the end-to-end development of IP Camera and Surveillance product portfolio, including cameras, NVRs, VMS, mobile applications, cloud platforms, and AI-enabled analytics solutions.

The role will drive product strategy, engineering execution, certification readiness, and cross-functional coordination to build a competitive India-focused surveillance platform.

Key Responsibilities

Product Development Leadership

· Own the complete IP camera product roadmap and technology strategy.

· Lead development of IP Cameras, NVRs, VMS, Cloud, Mobile App, and AI surveillance solutions.

· Define product architecture and technology selection across hardware, firmware, software, and cloud layers.

· Drive product differentiation through cybersecurity, AI analytics, and STQC-compliant designs.

Program Management

· Manage end-to-end product development lifecycle from concept to mass production.

· Establish project plans, milestones, timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.

· Track project risks and ensure on-time delivery of development programs.

· Coordinate internal teams and external ODM/technology partners.

Engineering Leadership

· Build and manage multidisciplinary R&D teams covering:

o Firmware

o Hardware

o Cloud & VMS

o Mobile Applications

o AI & Computer Vision

o QA & Validation

o Cybersecurity

· Mentor technical leads and establish engineering best practices.

· Drive design reviews and technical decision-making.

Certification & Compliance

· Ensure compliance with:

o STQC

o ER-BIS

o BIS CRS

o Cybersecurity and VAPT requirements

o ONVIF standards

· Lead certification planning and execution.

· Interface with certification agencies and testing laboratories.

Technology & Vendor Management

· Work closely with SoC vendors and ODM partners.

· Evaluate platforms from Novatek, Ambarella, InnoFusion, SigmaStar, Realtek, Qualcomm, and others.

· Manage third-party software and cloud technology partnerships.

· Drive localization and cost optimization initiatives.

Manufacturing & Productization

· Support transition from development to production.

· Coordinate with manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams.

· Ensure robust DFM, DFT, and production validation processes.

· Lead issue resolution during pilot and mass production stages.

Technical Skills Required

· Strong understanding of IP Camera architecture and surveillance ecosystems.

· Experience with Embedded Linux and firmware development.

· Knowledge of video codecs (H.264, H.265).

· Familiarity with ONVIF, RTSP, RTP, TCP/IP, PoE, and networking protocols.

· Understanding of VMS, cloud surveillance platforms, and mobile applications.

· Exposure to AI-based surveillance analytics and edge AI.

· Knowledge of cybersecurity, secure boot, OTA, encryption, and STQC requirements.

· Experience managing ODM and technology partnerships.
